The Athlete

Brooklyn is a Team Canada long track speed skater and 2022 Olympian from Calgary, Alberta. Brooklyn started speed skating at 15 years old, transitioning from AAA hockey. She laced up speed skates for the first time in 2014 at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, and immediately knew she wanted to switch sports. With the help of a Talent Identification Program through Speed Skating Canada, the transition became seamless. In her first season, she was named to Team Alberta for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Since starting her skating career in 2014, she became the 2018 Canadian Junior All Round Champion, competed at two Junior World Championships (2017 & 2018), became a five-time 2019 Canada Winter Games medalist (and two-time Canada Winter Games Record Holder), became the 2021 women's 500m Canadian Champion, made her Olympic debut in Beijing in 2022, and was crowned the 2023 World Champion in Women's Team Sprint. Brooklyn also just recently competed at her second Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina, where she secured a Top-20 finish in the women's 500m.
